CONVERSE - find the love

Three Converse ads I found. They are so clever and I love how simple they are. Its very interesting how they use the shoelaces and how the shoes are shown to tie in with their theme.

3 Lefts

This is on the front page of threelefts.com portfolio page. I was immediately drawn to their logo right when I saw it. I think it works really well and I like how they implied the "L" in lefts.

Blossom

This is a logo I found online. I love when designers do stuff like this. Imply different letters using objects that represent what they are trying to say. This reads very well and I think it is well done.

Why Celebrate Weapons?

This is a design that I found while going through some student work online. I found it interesting how they used faces and then wrote 200 in the darker red over them. The red really stands out above the black and white and I think it works really well for the theme.

This is a cover for CYMK Magazine. I really like the simplicity of the design and how the main focus of it is the figure with the typography within it

Wakey! Wakey!

This is the album cover for Wakey! Wakey! A band I was immediately drawn to as soon as I heard it and saw this. I really like how the name is part of the piano and I just think it works so well.

Communication Arts

This is a few pages from Communication Arts Magazine. I thought all of the designs were really cool. How the typography creates the bottle in one of the designs and then how the type is broken apart and taken out in a few others.

Pygmalion

I found this poster on the wall in the music room at Next Generation School. I really enjoy the colors. They work really well together. I also really like the tree illustrations. They stand out quite a bit because they have so much contrast against the black background. It is also interesting how the line that goes through the poster creates the typography.

CMYK Website

I found this on the CMYK Magazine website in their portfolio link. I think the simplicity of it is what makes it look so cool. The bold bright colors stand out a lot and make it look really cool. I also like how the figures in the background are repeated a lot in different sizes and positions.

Computer Arts

Computer Arts is one of my favorite Magazines from the list online. I really enjoy their covers because they are always so bold and filled with colors and abstract art. I really like the mix of the pinks and the darker gray in this design because the pink stands out so much against it. The small amounts of blue and green also add a little interst.

Music Festival

This is a poster I found at Next Generation School. I thought the illustration was really interesting how the guitar changes to create the yellow shape for the title of the poster. Also I like the smaller illustrations on the sides.

Artware Studios

This is the Logo of Artware Studios. I found it at www.artware.com. I thought it was really cool how the letters are overlapped to create this logo. I like how the different parts of the letters create the letters on each side of it. Also, the colors work really well together.

This is Plugin

I found this in Communication Arts and I thought it was cool because it incorporated a cord and the the letters are in cursive by plugging them into each other. I found this very interesting.

Print Cover

This is the cover of Print Magazines April 2008 issue. I have always been interested in paint or ink splatter so this issue caught my eye right away. The way the faces come out of the splatter is very cool and I really like the warm colors that are used.

Tree

I found this and I thought it was really cool how they used type to create this tree. The overlapping text makes it a bit hard to understand but overall I think it is really interesting.

The Vineyard

This is a screen shot of The Vineyard Church website. I really like their website because it is really easy to get around it. All of their links are very clear and I especially like the slideshow they have on the front page. Similar to the Art Gallery website the church always has a picture of the current series going on which I think is really smart.

Business Card

This is a business card I found online at deviantart.com. I think the colors they chose work really well together. The blue definitely stands out compared to the black and gray in the background. I also like how they used the blue from the artwork for the first name of the designer.
